EVOLIS PRIMACY & ALTESS
The print attempt has failed. One or more cards have become jammed in the printer, or there is a defect in a mechanical component.
If a card is blocked, remove the card as follows:
1. Open the printer cover and remove the ribbon.
2. Press the button on the control panel to turn the card feed rollers. If the card is still stuck inside the printer, slide it manually towards the printer output. If there is more than one card, always push the top one first.
3. Replace the ribbon, then close the printer cover.
To prevent card jams:
1. Check that the card thickness gauge is correctly adjusted.
2. Ensure that the thickness of the cards used matches the specifications of your printer.
3. Check that the cards are flat. Keep them in a horizontal position.
4. Check that the cards are not stuck together. Shuffle the cards before loading them.
If the cards are not jammed and the problem is due to a mechanical defect, please contact your Evolis dealer for advice and support.
Description
This article explains what to do when the ribbon tears or gets cut during the printing process. If your ribbon breaks, DO NOT throw it away. Even if the ribbon has torn you can continue to use that ribbon after repairing it.
Before reparing the ribbon follow these instructions to prevent further tearing:
1. Locate the Evolis Print Center icon on your Desktop.
2. Right-click the icon and run as administrator.
3. Under Printer Name right-click Evolis Primacy.
4. Select Properties.
5. On the right side select Printing, then Front side graphical settings.
6. Under Color panels adjustment adjust Contrast to 8.
7. Click Apply and OK.
Be sure to [fix your ribbon] before moving forward with your printing.
How to Repair a Torn Ribbon:
1. Pause the print queue (if you have jobs pending in the queue).
2. Turn off the printer.
3. Remove the ribbon cartridge. By now, the printer's card path should be clear of cards and torn ribbon.
4. Place the ribbon cartridge or spools on a flat (clean) surface and find the two broken ends on the ribbon. Cut any excess ribbon so the ends are straight as possible.
5. Pull enough ribbon so the ends overlap and tape them together using scotch tape (it's OK to tape it directly over the used sections of ribbon).
6. After taping the broken ends together, place the ribbon back into the printer.
7. Close the print cover.
8. Turn the printer back on. The printer should cycle the ribbon to the correct starting point.
To upgrade the printer’s firmware:
1. Download the printer’s firmware on your hard disk (see “Driver & Support” section from Evolis web site).
2. Open the Evolis Print Center / Printer properties / Maintenance / Firmware update, click on “Launch the firmware update wizard” button and follow the instructions.
Primacy drivers are available for the following platforms:
Windows XP - SP3 minimum (32/64-bit)
Windows Vista (32/64-bit)
Windows 7 (32/64-bit)
